Team Scholarships

Team

What is it? A tournament style scholarship competition in which each school is a team.  The high scoring schools (teams) are advanced through the scholarship contest levels until one school is the winner.

Members of a team: All students at a school are automatically part of the school’s team when they register with the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation.  For each contest the top percentage of students from each team are advanced to the next level where the team again competes.

Team Scores: The top 20 scores from each school make up the team score for the initial round of the competition.  As teams progress through higher rounds the team score may be determined by fewer student scores.

Team Scholarship Awards: There are no individual winners.  Scholarships are awarded to all members of the winning team that make it to the championship round.

Who offers Team Scholarships? Team scholarships are administered by the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation www.cksf.org.

The program requires the demonstration of leadership, planning, strategy, and most of all teamwork.

Round 1 – Every student at every high school in the United States is eligible to participate.  There are two quizzes in the first round and each school score is the sum of the top 20 student scores from each school.  The high scoring school from each county is advanced to  Round 2, the State Round. Only students that participated in Round 1 are eligible to participate in rounds 3 & 3.

Round 2 – The high scoring school from each county competes to be the state winner.  The top scorers from the top school in each state are advanced to Round 3 the National Round.

Round 3 -  This is the championship round where scholarships are won.  The number of students that make up each team in Round 3 is dependent on the amount of scholarship money available (donated) for the competition.  Each member of the winning team will share equally in the scholarship money.
