CKSF Launches Team Scholarships

CKSF-TeamThe Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation is breaking all the rules of winning college scholarships.  First they did away with essays, then removed the GPA requirement, eliminated family financial information and now you can’t win unless you help four other students win.

Traditionally, scholarships have been like playing golf, there is absolutely no incentive to help another person win, not even a friend.  Helping another person win equals helping yourself lose.  Not any more, not with CKSF’s new team scholarships.

Team Scholarships can only be won if  students help each other win.  How can this be?  Every high school is a team and students automatically become part of their school’s team when they register with CKSF.  Each person takes the online quizzes and the sum of their individual scores becomes their team score.

The participation is incredibly simple, register with CKSF and take a couple of short online quizzes.  Winning, however, is a little more complex.  Scholarship competitions are structured in tournament style.  Round one allows every high school student to participate in two “Challenge Round” quizzes.  The high scoring school from each county advances to round two, the “State Championship.”  The State Championship round crowns one school per state and sends the top five students from the school on to round three, the “National Championship.”  One last quiz and the top winning team receives a trophy for their school and each of the five members of the team receives a scholarship.

Some facts and details of Team Scholarships:

  • Quizzes are scored on time and accuracy
  • Students do not need permission to be part of their school’s team
  • Students can’t be “cut” from their team
  • No individual score can hurt a team score, they can only help
  • Each team member shares equally in the scholarship money
  • A school can have one or two team captains that work with CKSF to build a team
  • Students can win up to $5,000 with the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation
