NRAEF Scholarships A Success

WinnersThe National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation sponsored 120 scholarships through the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation (CKSF) during the 2008-2009 school year. Each month, students in foodservice, culinary, and hospitality majors took online quizzes that tested their knowledge of the ManageFirst Program TM competency guides. A total of $60,000 was awarded to students over the course of the year.

If you participated in this program, we encourage you to thank the  National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation for sponsoring these scholarship competitions each month. Your appreciative comments will be forwarded to the sponsors and may inspire them to fund future scholarships through CKSF. You can post your note below or mail them to:

Thanks so much for sponsoring this scholarship opportunity. I am a student at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Miami and I enjoyed competing in these monthly competitions. Even though I never won one of the scholarships, studying for it helped me review for class. I am a single mom studying to be a pastry chef with the hope of opening my own bakery someday and it is nice to know there are people and organizations out there that will sponsor these types of opportunities for students like me.

I thank you very much for your assistance in furthering my education, Without scholarships like these, I would not be able to pursue such a program. Especially with the fact that the NRA is the most prestigous restaurant association, and the NRAEF is the most prestigous restaurant educational foundation, will only help to increase my credability within this exciting and ever growing industry.

Again, I thank you for all of the assistance that you are giving us.

    Sincerely,

    Joshua Blanchard

Thank you so much for sponsoring the monthly scholarship competitions. I am a student at Kent State University and I am studying hospitality management. I am finishing my last semester of school and the scholarship I won was a major help to me in paying my tuition. After graduation I plan on pursuing a career in the event planning aspect of the industry. Thank you so much for your generosity in supplying scholarships to students.

    NRAEF-
I am amazed at how committed you are as an organization to furthering college education. As a recipient of two of your scholarships, I just want to thank you for the huge impact you have had on my journey to higher education. Without your help, I would have not have been able to achieve the levels of success I have had in college. I am very grateful for your assistance.

    Sincerely,
    Allison Baker

Thank you for the outstanding support and much needed funding! As a Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Management student at the University of Denver, this is a wonderful help in financing my education and making it possible to continue working towards my future goals. Thank you!

Thank you so much for the scholarship. I’m a student at Johnson and Wales University in Charlotte, NC. I’m studying the Culinary Arts and Food Service Management. The information I learned from my coursework was very helpful. Getting a culinary education at Johnson and Wales is very expensive and this scholarship will be very helpful. Thank you once again.

  11. Thank you, NRAEF, for the scholarships you offer through the CKSF. I was blessed to win two of the scholarships based on my performance on the quizzes. It is gratifying to know that what I have learned in the Culinary Arts major at my college has such an immediate reward! I am pursuing a career as a caterer, having established my own company using the knowledge I have gained in college. I graduated in May 2009 with an Associate of Science degree in Culinary Arts, and the scholarships you have granted me will enable me to complete the requirements for an additional degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management. Thank you so much for your contributions to the future of the food service industry.
